While pipe relining is an innovative and highly effective solution for repairing damaged drains, it is not suitable for every situation.
It is best to get a professional assessment to determine if the pipe restoration can be achieved with relining. dRAINS kLEEN has performed many successful relines in pipes which have been all but destroyed.
Here are some limitations we must consider:
🔹 If a pipe has completely collapsed and can’t be cleared or cut back. The existing structure must be intact enough to support the new liner. In such cases, pipe replacement may be necessary.
🔹 Pipe relining does not increase the internal diameter of a pipe. While the difference is minimal, in pipes that are already undersized or heavily restricted by build-up, alternative solutions might be required.
🔹 Complex pipe layouts with multiple bends or extremely tight spaces can make relining more challenging. In some cases, traditional repairs or sectional pipe replacement may be a better option.
🔹 If pipes have shifted significantly due to ground movement, poor installation, or subsidence, relining will seal the pipe but may not be an ideal method of repair as it will not restore alignment. If possible, a structural repair might be the preferred method of repair.
🔹 While pipe relining is a long-term investment, the initial cost may be higher than a temporary pipe repair or clearing a blockage. However, relining provides a 50+ year lifespan, making it a cost-effective solution in the long run.
