Most buildings have an Overflow Release Gully (ORG), typically a black grate outside your property. When installed correctly, the ORG is positioned lower than the lowest drain inside your home. Its purpose is to prevent sewage from overflowing inside the building. However, if your property doesn’t have an ORG, a blocked sewer can cause sewage to rise up through your bath, shower, or floor waste drains.
